"What the best and wisest parent wants for his own child, that must the community want for all its children. Any other ideal for our schools is narrow and unlovely; acted upon it destroys our democracy." John Dewey
I’ve wanted to be a teacher since I was in kindergarten. Every day I would come home from school with my homework, go in my room, set up all my stuffed animals, and teach them a lesson; which was my homework. Ever since then I wanted to be a teacher. Once I got into high school I took many early childhood education courses and my senior year I found a class in which I was able to leave twice a week to intern in a classroom of my choice. I signed up for that class so quickly; I was so excited about it. Once I got into the class we talked about setting up your classroom, what expectations are expected, and how to become a teacher. When I started interning in my kindergarten class senior year I fell in love with the students and atmosphere. So when picking a major for college there was no thinking or second guessing involved. I defiantly want to be a kindergarten teacher.
